Here at St Martins Church all are welcome including those with dementia and their carers, friends and family.
We believe that no one should feel uncomfortable about Church, and all are welcome in Gods house.
We have a table with resources in the foyer and on our bookcase, there are some dementia focused resources which are free to borrow – we just kindly ask that you record in the note book provided and bring back your book when you have finished with it.
On the first Sunday of the month we have our afternoon tea “Sunday Social”, this is a relaxed atmosphere, particularly suited for dementia suffers and their carer’s and a lot of fun is had!
We are planning to improve signage to more pictorial and yellow/black in line with dementia guidance, and to make our toilets more dementia friendly in terms of colour contrast.
We are a dementia friendly church which means that we work with the Lichfield Diocese to learn how we can help and support those with dementia.
This is always work in progress and we welcome suggestions and feedback to help improve the experience of people with dementia to help them feel safe and most importantly loved by and connected to God.
